Vance Fones

Vance Fones is an explosive athlete with SEC-level physical tools. He generates excellent power through the football while maintaining a smooth, repeatable swing that consistently produces a clean ball. His kickoff production stands out. Averaging 63.5 yards per kickoff with 37 touchbacks, a 73-yard long, and a 4.26-second best hang time, Fones has already demonstrated the type of leg strength required to compete at the Power Four level. As a placekicker, he was nearly automatic during his junior season, converting 97.1% of his extra points while finishing a perfect 3-for-3 on field goals. While his field goal volume wasn’t high, his consistency and confidence every time he stepped onto the field were evident. The tools are all there. As he continues refining his technique and gaining experience, his ceiling remains one of the highest among kickers in this class. Although he’ll begin his career at Florida State as a preferred walk-on, we believe he has scholarship-level talent. If the scholarship situation in Tallahassee doesn’t ultimately work in his favor, Fones is exactly the type of specialist who could enter the transfer portal and immediately become a scholarship target for multiple Division I programs. Long term, we believe he has the physical tools to develop into a K1-caliber professional prospect. His leg strength, athleticism, and natural ball-striking ability give him tremendous upside, and if he continues developing at his current pace, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him emerge as one of the top specialists from this entire recruiting class.
